Today the national beach volleyball championship in the under-21 category begins in Portorož with the first matches. On the four courts of Volley Club Portorož on the central beach in Portorož, 14 pairs in the women’s competition and 19 pairs in the men’s competition will compete. The beach volleyball season is in full swing, and for young volleyball players this will be one more opportunity to test themselves on the Portorož sand. The competition started today in the afternoon at 4 PM with the first two rounds of the men’s competition, while the women’s competition is scheduled to start on Saturday at 10 AM.

The eyes of the home fans will be focused above all on the pair Tajda Lovšin and Špela Morgan, and on the young volleyball players Aleksander Dulai and Žiga Kumer, who had an excellent season last year. Last year the women’s pair finished the European Under-20 Championship in Antalya, Turkey, in an excellent seventh place, and their success was complemented by the boys, who took ninth place. The girls were also at the World Championship in Cyprus, where they finished ninth in the under-18 category.
The tournament will also feature the finalists of the first tournament of the under-19 national beach volleyball championship, which took place in Čatež at the beginning of June this year: in the men’s competition these are Črtomir Bošnjak and Andraž Stružnik, and Rok Možič and Jaka Udrih; in the women’s competition, Polona and Špela Marušič, and Kaja Kersnik and Nika Bevc.
Come and join us in the stands, Volley Club Portorož!
